Also like grape and raisin toxicity, the symptoms currants produce can be somewhat delayed, rather than sudden. In dogs that are affected by currants renal failure can occur and symptoms may eventually include vomiting and diarrhea.
What to do:
If your dog has eaten currants, don't take the chance it is immune! Get an examination by a vet for proper advice and treatment. Even in dogs that survive acute intoxication from these fruits, long-term kidney disease may develop.
