When we buy a home we think about pretty much everything. We are starting fresh so if the carpeting seems a little suspect now, it may time to either get rid of it, shampoo it, or replace it with the hardwood or tile flooring you have always wanted!

However, if we have pets, we need to also consider their needs. For instance, if you have a dog that is inside the house often you might want to rethink the light-colored carpeting or the style of wood floors you want.

Dogs have sharp nails, you see, and they can do damage. Also, there is not a dog around, no matter how well trained, that hasn’t pooped on the carpet at least once in their lives. Tiles are nice but often cold and, by experience, we know if they are not textured a dog has a hard time walking on them.

What home and dog owners need is an education on the best types of flooring for themselves and their pets. You want something beautiful, naturally, but if you can get that beauty and it is pet-friendly too you truly have it made!
