This Dog’s Last Photo by The Ocean Tells Her Story and Brings Us to Tears

dog's last picture by the ocean

Jessie is one special dog. Her last day at the beach was captured in the most beautiful photograph. Read all about her story below.

Jessie and her human Lisa Rutter didn’t intend for their now-viral beach trip to be their last, but it was a much-needed break for an old dog from home.

Rutter hoisted her old girl into their van and then back out again at the ocean. Jessie was still a spritely pup, Rutter tells BarkPost, albeit going a little lame.

With a blanket in the sand, the two enjoyed the warm August evening in 2015.

It was that photo of pure freedom and joy that won Off The Leash‘s “Best Old Dog Photo Competition” with over 10,000 likes on Facebook.

“Running is something I hadn’t seen in a long time from her,” Rutter tells Mirror. It was a beautiful moment for everyone, and Jessie’s thousands of overnight fans couldn’t help but blow everyone away:

When Jessie’s old photo won the contest nearly five months after her trip, it was bittersweet.

Her ashes are now scattered in her favorite place in the world, the Lake District in the United Kingdom.

“She taught me how to love,” Rutter says.

Good girl, Jessie. You are missed by thousands.

WOW! In her final days, Jessie still managed to touch a lot of hearts and inspire others with her lively spirit. She had such a wonderful life and you can see it all in one picture.
