From the second you bring a new dog into your home, you're constantly worried about him. Whether he's a puppy or an adult, you subconsciously keep a watchful eye on your furbaby to make sure he only has the best and stays out of trouble, including eating things he shouldn't.

It turns out that we may actually be the ones feeding our dog something that isn't the healthiest for him. In our defense, we probably don't even realize it! We trust dog food companies and our vet to recommend food that is appropriate for our pets, but we also need to do our own research just to make sure.

One of the most vital nutrients a dog gets from his food is protein. Without it, his health begins to deteriorate. However, what seems healthy and full of protein may not truly be the best for him to consume. We must ensure the right proteins are being given to our dogs to keep their health in tip-top shape

For example, my Yorkie was born with a health issue that required me to be wary of both the type of protein I fed him as well as the amount of protein. I soon became well-versed in the world of protein alternatives for dogs and realized that we need to keep an eye on where our dogs' protein comes from.

Head over to the next page to see which 2 proteins to avoid feeding to your dog! You might be surprised at what they are!
