While there are some breeds of dogs that have an independent streak, for the most part, they want interaction with their pack leader. They also want security and structure. It is up to us as their pet parents to be humane but also someone they can look to for guidance. Take a look:
You may feel the above is all very simple and something all dog owners should know. It is but we admit there are times when we simply forget the reward when our dog does well.
Also, while we walk our dog regularly, there are times – especially now that it is winter and the temperature is colder – we simply want to get the outside activity over and done with.
He may want to explore but we want to go back in the house and drink warm cocoa! Remember, a dog needs stimulation. Don’t bring him in too early or scold him because you are the one having a problem!
Be kind but firm with your pup and the rewards will come!
