The Very Last Surviving Dog from 9/11 Dies at the Age of 16

Unless you’ve crawled under a rock since the beginning of September of 2001, we are all still getting over the incredible destruction and loss of life from 9/11/2001.

Sixteen years ago three hundred search dogs worked long hours in overwhelming conditions to find human survivors and the dead amongst the destruction of the twin towers in New York.

Bretagne, a Golden Retriever, was two years old at the time and she was one of those dogs called into service at Ground Zero. It was an emotional time and we have no idea what those canines were feeling. They simply were called in to do a job and, with their masters, did their best to get it done.

Dog-wise, the events of 9/11 have come to an end. Bretagne is believed to have been the last known surviving search dog at Ground Zero, and she lived quite the audacious life since 9/11!
