Bicyclist and Dog Are on a Mission to Break a Record and Promote Animal Shelters

Bixby and owner

Not only has Mike and Bixby broken their original record, they'd like to travel 20,000 miles now! Wow, that's a lot of miles! I love that along the way they promote animals shelters and stay with fellow doggie owners as well. I'm sure Bixby is making all sorts of friends and having a blast playing fetch when he's not traveling in his comfy seat on his owner Mike's bite!

When Mike Minnick decided he wanted to break the world record for distance traveled on an electric bike, he knew he couldn't do it alone.

And so he decided to take his dog, Bixby, along with him.

Bixby is a 6-year-old rescue dog and Minnick's best friend.

The current documented world record for most miles ridden on an electric bike is 5,000, though someone claims they've gone 10,000. So far Minnick and Bixby have pedaled around 10,000 miles through 31 different states, and plan to go 20,000.

Along their journey, the pair has been stopping at local animal shelters to promote the importance of pet adoption.

This inspiration story is a powerful reminder that not only can you have fun and travel the world, but you can do it with your furry best friend! This man isn't going to stop cycling anytime soon and it's amazing that Bixby can enjoy the journey with him! Plus, bringing exposure to animals shelters during their travels and letting people know about the pups who need adopting is amazing too!
