Just to make this clear, dire wolves are extinct. They had a good run, some experts saying they hung around sabre-tooth tigers to help bring down mastodons in the far-far past. Yet, evidence shows the dire wolf has shown itself later in history, bones being discovered that make scientist believe some packs hung around far after the first wolves met their sad but predictable end.

These days the closest things we have to dire wolves are Huskies. They are indeed beautiful animals and if you have the good fortune to own one and make him or her a part of your family, you are a blessed person.

Thanks to the series Game of Thrones Huskies have increased in popularity, their admirers comparing them to the incredible, nearly majestic, dire wolves from the HBO series. Not long ago we saw Arya Stark reunited with her dire wolf and many fans were nearly brought to tears because the girl and wolf hadn’t seen one another since the first season of the show!

However, here and now, there are fears that families are buying or adopting these canines without really knowing what they are getting into. Actor Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion on Game of Thrones, is urging fans to stop buying “Direwolf” huskies. Go over to the next page to find out why.
