If a Dog Has Eye Boogers What Does it Mean?

Most dogs experience eye boogers, but not all eye boogers are created equal. Generally, having eye boogers in a dog's eye is a normal occurrence and shows that the tear ducts are doing their job. In the same way, humans have sleepies, dogs have boogers in their eyes as well.

Other things can cause sleepies to develop in a dog's eyes, such as dust, air, pollen, and other outside elements. The sleepies will stay there in a pooch's eye until we clean it — or they wipe it all over our bed, LOL!

Eye boogers are a sign your dog is healthy until at some point it may be a sign that your dog isn't.

If a dog's eye discharge is happening too frequently, is thick or smelly, this could mean something more serious is up. Then it's important to check with your vet to make sure there isn't something serious going on.
