Discover How One Woman is Helping Senior Dogs Get Noticed – This Brought Me to Tears!

The other day I went to an animal shelter and immediately gravitated towards playing with a young 3-month-old Chihuahua puppy through the bars. After I played with her and she gave me some precious puppy licks, I found my eyes gravitating towards a dog that was withdrawn, sleeping in the corner. I walked over there and looked over his information and discovered that he was 14-years-old. I reached in to pet him, but he didn't move toward me. I suspect he was sad and lonely.

After I left the animal shelter I felt sad and guilty — why was I playing with a puppy when this sweet older dog was just as deserving, if not more deserving of my love and attention? I left thinking about this and how elderly dogs should be people's first choice when being considered for adoption. After all, the puppies are the dogs that are usually adopted first.

One woman named Stacey Gammon set out to change the stigma that older dogs are not adoptable and advocate that elderly dogs are so deserving of a forever home and love. When I read about her cause I could not help but cry. Her warm heart is going to change senior dogs' lives and how she's doing that is remarkable.
