Rob Clowes launched Pugfest in 2014. He sought to praise the beloved breed and its puggy mixes! It is also a tribute to his pooch Poppy the pug, may she R.I.P. It is a huge family-friendly event so register early! Here’s what to expect:

On entry to the festival, visitors will walk up the red carpet to the huge open-air event, situated in the heart of Manchester's media and television industry.

The pug party – which takes place from 12pm to 5pm – will feature a VIP (very important pug) area, complete with prosecco (for humans only) dog goody bags, and doggy treats.

Dog owners can enter their pugs and pug crosses into the Grand Pug Show, try their luck on the agility course, or show off their sprinting skills at the doggy dash race.

Dog-less visitors are also welcome to go along and enjoy the atmosphere – with music, food and drink stalls, a photobooth and fairground rides providing entertainment throughout the day.

Salford pub The Mark Addy will reopen – but we could have a long wait

“The event also features a kissing booth – where pug lovers can go and see a pug for a pug kiss or for other pugs to have a kiss too,” adds Rob.

“People are so responsible for picking up dog poo as well – we have stations and bins for all that.”

Pugfest supports local and national dog charities and Mr. Clowes initially thought, back in 2014, they would be lucky to get twenty people and dogs to attend. You can imagine his surprise when 1,500 people turned up! Yes, we love our pugs!

Tickets will be available closer to the event for £8 per person, £5 for children and dogs go free! A limited number of tickets will be available at the door but your best bet will be to go online.
