When puppies are first born everything surrounding them is a mystery. All they truly know is they want comfort and food, both of which they get from their mother.
They also receive care and warmth but at only a couple weeks old they do not as yet understand the giving of such an emotion.
It is not their fault. Sometimes a pup, just like a baby, needs time to get adjusted. Soon they will love and hug with the best of animals. They will learn to demonstrate love!
