As children, we all had a certain item that was ours. We slept with it, played with it, and if Mom would allow it we’d bring it to the dinner table. That “friend” could be anything from a toy to an old blanket. All we knew was it made us feel secure and we slept better at night knowing it was close.
Are we alone in the world, as a species, feeling reassurance in inanimate objects? Maybe not as alone as we may think!
There is the sweetest, most lovable, bulldog puppy on the next page. He’s sleeping. That alone would be cute enough but this little guy is resting beside a stuffed pig and we get the impression that he would not be slumbering as comfortably if it was taken away.
Go take a look and see if you do not agree!
